Missing Games for Games Collection - 2/28/2015 12:22:54 AM

I was installing each packages from the DVD I've bought recently. It was the "Games for Windows" version of "700,000 Games." I've installed all the games from Best Game Hits 1-4, Best Game Hits 5-6, Best Game Hits 7, and Best Game Hits 8 successfully. But when I installed the Game Collection and went into its launcher, many of the games just give me an "Unhanded exception" error.

Is it possible that the DVD is defective?

Here's the message:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

According to the stack trace, it seems it cannot find the directories to the missing games. So, I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\700,000 Games\Game Collection 700,000 and found only the directories to the following games:

100,000 Mahjongg Games
1001 Japanese Crosswords
1001 Tangram Puzzles
2002 Kakuro Puzzles
2002 Pentamino Puzzles
3003 Crystal Mazes
4500 Vegas Slots Bonus Bonanza
Astro Color Twist
Chess Brain Teasers 100K
Chess Magic 30K
Chess Reversi 100k
Chess Solitaire 50k
Chess Sudoku 100k
Sudoku Mania
Super Word Games 10,000

But according to the launcher for the "Game collection" (with the banner "700,000 Games), the following games CANNOT run and just throws an error:

Crystal caverns of AmonRa
Dynasty of Egypt
Jewels of the Nile
Hexagon Mahjong
Taipei Mahjong 25000
2002 Games
500 Solitaire Games
2002 Spaceout Games
3000 Jigsaw Puzzles
1001 Minigolf Challenge
King Solomon's Lost Mines 1001 Treasures

It turns out those files weren't installed. I have enough space in my hard drive, I have full admin privileges, and my anti-virus is off, but the setup still didn't install all the games properly even through the setup program itself said it finished successfully.

Here are a couple of details about the DVD rom:

DVD Version: v01305

D:\GameCollection\setup.exe
Size: 108,445,400 bytes (103MB)
File version: 2.0.12.6
Product version: 2.00.12.06.29
Date modified: 04/06/2013 7:52PM (dd/mm/yyyy UTC -6:00)

D:\GameCollection\StartSetup.exe
Size: 38,024 bytes (37.1KB)
Date modified: 05/08/2010 3:13PM (dd/mm/yyyy UTC -6:00)

Here are my specifications for your consideration:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit)
DirectX: 9.0c
.NET Framework: 4.5
Flash: 16.0.0.305
Graphics: nVidia geForce
CPU: Intel Duo Core 2 (2.2GHz)

Despite what was listed, the setup did NOT install those games at all.
What's strange about that log is that it is in a different format as the other install.log files from the Best Game Hits packages. Those logs showed what files were extracted and outputted. Example from Best Game Hits 1-4:

Copy the entire contents of the disk to a new folder on the HDD. Run the setup and attempt to install the missing components. Let me know how this goes.

I've copied the files from the DVD into the Hard Drive and ran the setup as usual. (Administration mode, no anti-virus running.) Unfortunately, the missing games from the "Games Collection" section still didn't get installed. Just to avoid confusion, I've uninstalled first and then re-installed.
Install.log showed the same result but instead of "Execute: D:\GameCollection\..\dotnetfx35.exe" it has "Execute: C:\pcdvd\GameCollection\..\dotnetfx35.exe". (I've named the folder "pcdvd".)

To rule out anything in the background, have you tried to install these games in safe mode and see if it makes a difference? If it still does not make a difference and you don't see these games installing your disk may be defective. We have a form you can fill out to exchange your disk for a new one, but it requires your purchase receipt.

The form to fill out is at http://support.encore.com/ordersupport/order_support_frm.aspx

Select 700,000 games from the drop down menu, and select Exchange. Let them know where you purchased it and they can help process an exchange for you.

I'm afraid installing in safe mode didn't help as well. The missing games still weren't installed and nothing different happened.
I can't help but think if the installer is holding back some files because it couldn't install .NET 3.5. I really don't know how the installer does things, but I hope the details that I gave would be helpful to pinpoint the problem.

We can help you troubleshoot the issue further if you email us at http://support.encore.com/technicalsupport/product_detail.aspx?product_id=3241

These forums aren't really equipped for technical issues like this.
