Honestly, this is one of the quietest forums with far fewer questions than many other user-supported software forums. You mentioned the simplicity of Create-A-Card. I had that program, as well as PrintMaster and The Print Shop, back in the 1990's. The forum at the time was called Expressit and I was an active member there, too. It was much busier than here. Questions every day about problems with custom sizes, printer alignment, double-sided printing, etc. People FORGET that learning those "simple" programs had its share of frustrations. After a couple years of continuous use, they became proficient and fondly recall those old programs as "simple".

Computers are more complex than cars and yet we reasonably expect to take driving lessons and spend hours of practising before we are road worthy. I teach computer literacy at a seniors home and also do one-on-one lessons at private homes. Once I get them to accept that learning the computer is like learning to drive, they are less intimidated.


How much is repetition teaching? I find that the older we get, the more we forget. I try to keep my lessons (though he doesn't see it as a lesson) with DH to a minimum of 30 minutes, because it's been shown that we remember the 1st 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes the best of something we're being taught. Those things he does daily,he does really well. But things he only does occasionally get lost sometimes. My biggest thing is "READ THE WHOLE SCREEN" before you panic!

LOL. With all the distracting ads, I've had to point out what to ignore! Now one of the first things I do, with their permission, is to install an ad blocker.

LOL Let me clarify that..... when you're working in a program like word or excel or print shop. .....
