My Parents (since died) purchased Family Tree Maker and uploaded it to an old laptop by CD Version 6.0. I need to recover the data but my laptop doesn't take CDs, although I have the data as a back up file on my new laptop. Please can someone help me find a link to download compatible software in order to be able to print the data and be able to use it. A lot of time and effort went into researching my heritage and I can't get to view or use it. Thank you in advance

Family Tree Maker version 6 is a very old product, probably 20 years old or more. I think it was developed for Win 95 and Win XP. So if you are running Win 10, I don't think there is any Win 10 genealogy software that can open such old files.*see next post
I think the only way you can see this data is to use an old Win XP computer with FTMv6 installed on it. Even then, I don't know if that program can export the data into a simple text file for import into other programs. If you can print or create a PDF from this old computer, then the information can be read in that format.
Many years ago, I did help a client do what you want, but it required a "bridge" between his old versionA and his new versionC, about 10 years apart. I found a versionB. VersionB could open versionA, then resave it as versionB, which could then be opened in versionC.

"Family Tree Maker Customer? Don't lose your research now that Family Tree Maker is retired. Save your trees, charts, and research locally with Family Tree Heritage. Seamlessly export your data files from Family Tree Maker into Family Tree Heritage in two easy steps."
However, I don't know if Family Tree Heritage 15 can really open Family Tree Maker 6. You may need a Family Tree Maker that is newer, to bridge the gap between FTM6 and FTH15.
*Family Tree Heritage 15 can open later versions of Family Tree Maker, but I can't confirm if that includes version 6.
