I get an error when trying to install Hoyle Casino 3D. The error message reads as follows:

Setup has experienced an error.

Please do the following:
- Close any running programs
- Empty your temporary folder
- Check your Internet connection (Internet-based setups)

Then try to run the set up again.

Error code: -6001.

I have made sure all programs are closed, I emtied the temp folders, and I have DSL so I am always connected. What else do I need to do to install this program? If anyone has any idea your help would be much appreciated.

Hi thorel5150,

The error message you are receiving is apparently the result of a problem with Installshield, the program that is most commonly used for installation processes.

One recommended fix for this problem is to open Windows Explorer, go to

C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\

delete the 0701 subfolder, restart the computer, then try the installation again.

However, when you described the steps you performed prior to the installation of Hoyle Casino 3D, you did not mention whether or not you were doing a true 'clean' install, EXACTLY as described in this FAQ

'Clean' Install on Win98/Me/XP/2000/Vista/Win7

If you have not been doing a true 'clean' install - including temporarily disabling background programs in MSConfig AND logging onto the computer with a Computer Administrator account (if you are using WinXP, Win2000 or WinVista) - it would be a very good idea for you to do so.

If your computer does not have a 0701 subfolder in the RunTime folder, or if deleting the 0701 subfolder AND doing a true 'clean' install does not solve your problem, please post back here and let me know. I will then try to find another solution to your problem.

I just did the clean install and received the same error message. I also did a search for this 701 folder as you mentioned and I do not have one. I have a 0700 folder though with some dll files in it. If you have anything else please let me know.

Hi thorel5150,

According to my research, the 0701 folder is the mostly commonly recommended folder to be deleted. But, if your 0700 folder is a subfolder in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\ folder, the 0700 folder would probably be the folder to delete. I have also found one recommendation for deleting the 10 subfolder.

I am, though, not quite clear about one of your comments in your last message. Where you said, "I also did a search for this 701 folder," did you mean that you actually searched the hard drive for the 701 folder - rather than opening Windows Explorer then manually navigating to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\ folder?

If you did a search only, and if you found the 0700 folder during that search, you'll definitely want to NOT delete the 0700 folder until you can POSITIVELY confirm that the 0700 folder is a subfolder in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\ folder.

When you can confirm that the 0700 folder is a subfolder in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\ folder, you might want to just rename that 0700 folder, and also rename the 10 subfolder, instead of deleting them.
