problem printing greeting card - 10/1/2013 2:24:16 PM

I have recently purchased Printmaster 2012 platinum because of a new computer with windows 8, internet explorer. The older version was not compatible with new computer. I have had a computer since the 90's and have always used Printmaster for my calendars and cards and loved the product. I do not love the 2012 version...the features I used editing my pictures or the clipart aren't there anymore and I miss them so much, but I have managed to make my calendar and greeting cards, but I can't print the cards properly. I have the 4 pages showing at the bottom of the work screen and I successfully make the cards, many of them, actually placing something on every page. When I try to print them, the view is only on 1/2 of the page. I can't figure how to set it to properly line up each page for printing on the 8.5x11 card that will be 1/2 folded in either portrait or landscape. I hope I have explained this so you understand my problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This thread may help:
http://forums.encoreusa.com/tm.asp?m=43498

It addresses the problem of the 4 pages printing on separate sheets and supplies a workaround.

I also had difficulty with version 2012. The latest version, 6.0, is better. Making cards is much easier.

My own workaround is to export the pages as high res JPG. Using MS Word (or other programs), I can import the JPGs and print out my card.

Thank you for your prompt reply, Ellengard. I did read the thread you suggested before I posted my question, but was unsure it would work for me. I do not use the templates. I always make my cards from scratch. I'm not very computer savvy so don't understand some of the research I do on different situations. Also, being a 68 year old Nanna makes it more difficult to adapt to change. lol So, back to your suggestions, are you saying you could not print your cards in the 2012? I've just mastered making the card in the 2012, well, all but printing it, so is the 6 very different, therefore, making it something I have to master again? I really hate to spend more money on another one and having to relearn it, too. I will try the exporting suggestion. Thank you!!!

I could print with 2012, but I chose not to. Because I get all my printing done professionally, I need to provide a PDF or JPG anyways.

Professional printing is generally less expensive than printing at home!

It's the same program, just improved. I recommend you take advantage of the satisfaction guarantee - perhaps you can get a refund for 2012 and replace it with 6.0.

You're welcome! As with many programs, not just PrintMaster 2012, projects with lots of layered, high res graphics and special effects applied, can be too much for many printers to handle. Exporting to JPG flattens everything into one simple graphic. This is a generally good solution for projects that are a huge file size. It could come in handy for calendar projects which tend to be quite large if you use a lot of graphics.

Thanks, Ellen! I haven't had time to try anything yet, even calling customer service, but I do appreciate you and this forum. I would be totally lost without the help. I don't understand why the printers have trouble printing large files...remember, I'm not computer savvy. I had a small, inexpensive HP printer (3 n 1) and printed cards and calendars for years with absolutely no trouble. Now, I have a new Canon photo printer...much fancier...and I can't print my cards. Go figure, huh? lol You have a great day! Thanks, Linda

Hi, Linda,

I just made a start-from-scratch card identical to what you described. As far as I can tell, you don't have a printing problem at all. If you proceed to the Print function (looks to me that you viewed your pages, but went no farther) you will see that the program automatically matches up the halves.

Make sure you print "all"*. Put in only one sheet of card stock. The program will prompt you to re-insert the card stock after it finishes printing "page 1 and 4". Then "page 2 and 3" will be printed on the other side.

------------------------
*If you don't select all, you will end up with the print problem described in
