Hi nnaagg, When you said you just purchased Runes of Avalon, did you mean that you purchased Runes of Avalon on a separate CD? If so, you should not be having any problems at all with the CD version of Runes of Avalon. The only known problem with Runes of Avalon involves the version of Runes of Avalon which is installed with Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008. And, I know that for a fact - because I have installed and run both versions of Runes of Avalon on my computer. And, even though the Runes of Avalon which is installed with Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008 did stop running until I installed the patch, I never experienced any problems with the CD version of Runes of Avalon. When you said, "I have uninstalled Hoyle and Runes of Avalon (i have them here both on seperate discs," the Runes of Avalon that is installed with Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008 will uninstall when Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008 is uninstalled. So, if you actually did uninstall Runes of Avalon, you must mean that you uninstalled the CD version of Runes of Avalon, which is an entirely separate version of Runes of Avalon. As to your question, "How do i know if I'm deleting something from another program that's important??", if you uninstalled both programs from Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, then you did nothing more than to follow the directions in this FAQ Uninstalling Software: Thoroughly & Safely the only things you should have deleted were files and folders related to either Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008 and Runes of Avalon. And, if that is what you did, you would not have deleted anything relating to another program. As I said before, the best course of action for you would be to do the following (steps A, B and C). But, now that it appears that you are working with 2 different versions of Runes of Avalon, it would be advisable for you to do a thorough uninstall of both versions (Step A), then a complete computer cleanup (Step B), then a 'clean' install of both programs (Step C). Then, install the patch for Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008. And, if ABSOLUTELY ALL steps are followed exactly as described, you should not experience any problems at all when you try to run either version of Runes of Avalon. HOWEVER, it would be a very good idea to do the 'clean' install of both programs into their default install folders on the C:\ drive. If you have been installing the program to a different folder or onto a different drive, that might be what is causing your problem. Step A. Click on this link Uninstalling Software: Thoroughly & Safely and follow ALL directions in that FAQ for uninstalling Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2008 Step B. Click on this link Computer Cleanup on WinXP, WinVista & Win7 and follow ALL directions in that FAQ And, since you have experienced so many other problems on your computer, it is critically important that you do NOT skip this step. Step C. Click on this link 'Clean' Install on Win98/Me/XP/2000/Vista/Win7 and follow ALL directions in that FAQ
