Hello,
I am trying to create a poster that has a lot of text. I created my original template using excel and want to make it "pretty' using Printmaster. I tried copy/pasting it into a text box and the formatting/spacing got all crazy. Later, I tried to re-type a small amount of text into a new text box and while the formatting looked right when I was in the text box, as soon as I clicked out, it changed. Help!!

Excel puts words into rows and columns and this doesn't translate well into normal text wrapping. If you copy/paste text from a word processing program, it should work.

Copy/paste your text into WordPad and fix the formatting and spacing. In PrintMaster, add a new text box. Select Font and Size. Then copy/paste from WordPad to this text box.

Thank you! I will try that. Is there any way to make text align vertically in PrintMaster?

If you mean like

t
h
i
s

then, no. You have to hit ENTER after each letter. Have you tried the text in a circle or text in a square options? Those can make an impact when used sparingly.

UGH!!!! I tried putting it into wordpad and the formatting still changes when I put it into the text box. It even changes from when I'm actually in the text box and when I click out it changes. Any thoughts? So frustrated!! Maybe this is the wrong program for what I need since there is a lot of text. I am trying to make a posterboard sized chart...its so easy in excel...now I just want to make it cute.

There's something strange going on. Maybe it's just that particular project that is corrupt or maybe the whole program needs a reinstallation. I can suggest some tests to isolate the problem, but in the meantime, stick with Excel. Use PrintMaster to create some graphic designs that you can export to JPG and then import to Excel.

I'll get back to you about running some tests.

I am getting an error when I try to preview the project...I emailed tech support this morning. I hadn't thought of exporting to excel...not even sure how but it sounds promising!!

OK, let's see if you and I get the same results in this test.

Start a new project from scratch, choose Sign, 8.5x11 Portrait.
Add a text box.
Copy and paste what you wrote in post #5, into the text box. (Default is Arial 12)

Does it look like this?

That's definitely unusual... and a tech support issue. Hope they can help. In the meantime, I can help you with creating graphics in PrintMaster that you can use in Excel.

I'm going to take a guess at this but what version of Excel do you have? Setting aside your issues with Print Master I've done several projects in Excel from a previous version that looks all wacky when I try to use it on a more modern version. I'm wondering if the version of Excel you are using has any thing to do with the formatting of the text when you try to copy and paste.
