Status: offline 		Hello, my computer systems are all using Win10 now. Some of my users have been working with Printmaster Gold 18 for quite a long time now. However, it appears that PM Gold 18 will not work on Win10. What Printmaster program will work on Win10 so my users can still access their PM Gold 18 files?

Depending on the file formats, Print Shop 23.1 may be able to open the older files. Please keep in mind that Microsoft Windows is constantly always releasing updates for Windows 10 and may break compatibility with the program.

Since you mention version 18, do you have 18.1? If you do, we have some instructions you can try to install the program on Windows 10 but we can't guarantee it will work.

If you still have access to the older program on another computer, consider saving your files as JPG images now so that you can use these image files in other programs.

Thank you for responding so quickly! In response to your question about version, the version is PM18 Gold only, not 18.1. Also, there are no other computers running an older version of Windows.

Print Shop 23.1 would be totally different program, yes?

Status: offline 		.sig, .ban, etc. and other files are all common formats that are used in the older version of PM if my memory serves me correctly. The Print Shop 23.1 is a very different program than PrintMaster 18 is but is very popular amongst customers who are used to a familiar format.

Status: offline 		The Print Shop 23 is basically Printmaster 18 plus a couple extra features. Both were for Win XP. Both got updated to ".1" to make them Win 7 compatible. Nothing else changed.

The new Printmaster 7.0 and Print Shop 4.0 for Win 10, on the other hand, are totally different programs, incompatible with each other.

Note: Printmaster 7.0 will not open any projects made in PM18.

Status: offline 		As Jason says, The Print Shop 23.1 will open Printmaster 18 projects, but only until Win 10 updates break The Print Shop 23.1 program. This program is not supported on Win 10. Parts of the program won't work on Win 10.

Since time is limited for how long The Print Shop 23.1 will work on Win 10, the best thing to do is to use it to open your PM18 projects and start exporting all crucial graphics as JPGs so that they can be used in any graphics program. Otherwise, these old designs will be lost forever.

Status: offline 		Thanks again for the quick responses! Am I understanding correctly then that PM18 Gold files can be opened with Print Shop 23? Also, can Print Shop 23 be used on Win10?

I'm trying hard not to get confused with the numbering sequence with Printmaster for Win10. I guess it is up to PM7 now? I don't understand why the Printmaster numbers would be reused again. Guess, that be a discussion for another thread? :-) Thank you though for clarifying and confirming PM 7 (Win10) will not open any projects made with PM 18 (NonWin10).

Your last response came through while replying to the previous post. It is clearer now that PS 23 will work on Win10 and is usable to access PM 18 files with some compatible formats as explained in TMLFAN4LIFE's prior response.

Then, is anything compatible with the newer Win10 PM programs? If I import PM 18 into PS 23, can I then access PS 23 files with PM 7 (Win10) or import them? I'm trying to figure out some kind of longevity plan for these PM 18 files beyond PS 23.

JPGs. JPGs can be imported to any graphics program, so whatever you decide to run on Win 10 is fine.

The other option is to also buy The Print Shop 4.0 which can SORT OF open SOME Print Shop 23.1 projects. Because it doesn't work 100%, it's not my favorite solution. I still like the JPG option better.

Status: offline 		I see. Very good. It appears jpegs are the way to go. I now have a clearer understanding of a process of getting the PM18 Gold files onto something in Win10. PM 7 cannot import any Print Shop projects. None. It can of course, import JPGs.
