By default, all PrintMaster 18.1 and earlier versions of PrintMaster create only one Address Book. And, that Address Book is always titled Address.abk.
For a mail merge project, when you click on 'File' in the PM menu bar, select 'Print', then click on the 'Merge Names' button on the 'Print' window, PrintMaster is designed to display the names and addresses from the default Address.abk file. It is very important to keep in mind that if the 'First Name' and 'Last Name' fields in the Address.abk Address Book file do not contain any data, no names will be displayed. And, if there is no data at all in the Address.abk Address Book file, a message will be displayed which advises you of that fact.
The only way to select a different Address Book for a mail merge is to click on 'File' in the menu bar on the 'Merge Names' window, then select 'Open' in the window that drops down.
If there is no Address.abk file in the PrintMaster Books folder. it is not possible to add Mail Merge Fields - because when you click on 'Add' in the PrintMaster menu bar then select 'Mail Merge Fields' in the menu that drops down, the 'Address Book Fields' box will be empty.
