Commands / Printout - 10/2/2014 8:26:54 AM    bbfree1   Posts: 1 Joined: 10/2/2014 Status: offline I have used The Print Shop for years, version 12, 23.1 Deluxe, and now The Professional 3.5 and have been very happy with the results with all except now I am having problems with the 3.5. Installation was smooth, no problems, the setup is different than previous versions but has very few additions. In all, the new features hamper my ability to work at speed, although I do like the addition of leading adjustments. #1 The problems are time delay with ALL commands, no matter what I do there is a 6-20 sec. time delay. You can imagine how inconvenient and frustrating this is when you are accustomed to working with speed. Is this a glich in the system or something I am missing? #2 All my printouts or copies printing from the 3.5 program are fuzzy, not crisp and clear. When I print from other programs or the internet the results are clear and sharp. I defracked, cleaned cookies, uninstalled old programs. I operate on HP S2031, windows 7 PC and use a HP Officejet 4500. Is this a problem with the program, or is it a lemon? Do I need to get a replacement or refund. Am I missing something? I would like to continue using this program IF it WORKED. Thank You Bren Post #: 1

That is a huge time delay. I'm only experiencing that when I search for clipart, but it started happening recently and I can't rule out that it is an issue with my ISP. The response time is immediate when I add a shape, change its color, re-position it, etc. Maybe one second when I work with Headlines and text. It's also fast when I use the Image Editor and only slows down if my image is very large, high resolution. Still nowhere long as 20 seconds, though. How much RAM is available? I have 4GB which is adequate, but not considered ideal for heavy graphics work. Are you running several programs in the background? (in reply to bbfree1) Post #: 2

Text and vector graphics print sharp, but anything rasterized is fuzzy. I have found that saving my project as best quality JPG and then printing that JPG from another app gives me better sharpness. With complex projects, this is actually a better way for my printer to speed up the spooling. However, I expect sharp printing from the program itself - that's a given. RE: Commands / Printout - 10/2/2014 1:49:41 PM    lindarobin Posts: 947 Joined: 8/28/2004 Status: offline Hello Bren, If you have plenty of RAM and you have turned off background programs, the delay related to the content management server, may have contributed to the slowdown. TPS v3.5 is likely attempting to download thumbnails in the background which could manifest itself in delays throughout the program, not just when viewing templates or clipart. The content server was updated with more memory and processing power yesterday and hopefully this delay issue has gone away. Please try again today and see if performance has improved. You never replied on the forum about your system specs esp. regarding RAM and running background programs. If you have less than 4GB RAM, that's a problem. If you are running several programs in the background, that's a problem. Check what's in your start up tab. (in reply to bbfree1) Post #: 5
