How do I make an imported clip are picture transparent? I would like to be able to add text over the picture and I think making the picture transparent is what I'm suppose to do but not sure how. It seems that I am suppose to do it through something called Magic Wand but I do not have that as an option when I go to edit the picture. Do I need a different Printshop version to make this happen?

Adding text over a picture doesn't require doing anything special - just place your text box over the picture like so.

You can also fill text with a picture, using Headlines.

If you are not seeing the Magic Wand tool (under Artistic Effects) as shown in my screen capture, then I guess you need the Pro version. However, the Magic Wand has nothing to do with text. You would select a color in the picture and that color can be converted to transparency. In effect, you are erasing that color so that whatever is under the picture will show through the transparency.
In this example, I have selected some blue, then clicked the Transparent icon. You can see the areas where the blue is erased.

I added a background to show the new transparent parts of the picture.

If you are not looking to erase colors from a picture, you do not need to get the Pro version.
